call for submissions:
We’re sending out a call for our August 2008 issue of Home & Heart, a quarterly special issue magazine from CK Media (the publishers of Paper Crafts magazine). At Home & Heart (formerly Homegrown Hospitality), our goal is to promote the art of “home sweet home.” We provide the inspiration, ideas, and instructions to help busy readers create a warm and inviting home and heart-felt gifts by adding personal touches to everyday things and making the most of everyday life.
In our August issue, it’s time to start preparing for those wonderful autumn and winter holidays we love so much! Halloween, Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s Eve are all about family, friends, and festivities! Whether you’re decorating your home or yard, sending heartfelt cards, baking up a storm, throwing parties, going for hay rides, building scarecrows, or giving gifts to loved ones, the autumn and winter holidays are the perfect opportunity to let your creative talents come to life.
Show us how you make the autumn and winter holidays special. Send us photos of your creative ideas for:
· Gifts
· Cards, tags, and wraps
· Home or outdoor décor
· Parties (the whole ensemble, from invitations to centerpieces to party favors, or anything in between)
· Special holiday recipes (make sure they’re your own creations)
· Other creative projects that say “holidays” to you, like the scarves you made for everyone in your family to wear in the annual holiday photo, or the ornaments you made for neighbor gifts, or the menorah you painted and decorated, or the holiday care package you could send to a soldier…Let your imagination run free!
Please send us your simple, comfort-inspired, and innovative ideas for projects based on the following themes. Increase your chances of being published by using fun products, interesting techniques, the finest execution, and a style that says you care about “home & heart.” Remember, don’t limit yourself to just using paper in your projects. We welcome projects using paper, fabric, or other materials, and we love new, original food recipes that convey that Home & Heart feeling!

When you submit an image of your design, please make sure it is clearly photographed or scanned. Remember, the photo must be 300K or less! IMPORTANT!
If we accept your project we will need a detailed supply list so please keep a list of every product and tool you are using when creating your projects. A detailed list will include the exact name/description of the product, the specific brand name or product line, and the manufacturer.
REMEMBER:
- All ideas must be copyright-free and not have been previously published or a variation of one published.
- We are unable to personally respond to each submission. You will receive an e-mail from us only if we decide to use your tip, idea, or project.
- If you use professional photos, be sure you can obtain a photo release for publication.
- If you use templates or other published items, be sure that you have the permission of the copyright holder and include a credit line for the copyright holder.
- Please do not share this call for submissions with anyone without prior written permission.
- Please add hheditors@ckmedia.com and meditors3@ckmedia.com to your email contacts or safe sender lists, or you won’t get our email if we write to tell you we’ve accepted your submission!
