Hello and happy last day of 2008...today's blog post is a continuation of yesterday's post...
Most of the scrapbooking and paper crafting world knows who Ali Edwards is...shoot..even my valentine knows who Ali Edwards is...duh and most of you who have been reading my blog for the past few years knows that I almost had a heart attack the day I had to pick her up from the airport in Utah...for me, it was the same as if someone had asked me to pick up Oprah....hello...but after only a few moments (well, a few days...) I was not only fortunate to have learned some really great things from her..but she & I became fast, funny and creative, sometimes instant coffee drinking friends....
Now we all of know that today is the last day of 2008. Not only is it time to ring in 2009, but also time to be inspired once again by Ali, to chose a word to focus on for the new year. Most of you know that Ali does a lot of work to support Autism Speaks and most of you know that I doodle...alot. I love to share my art with all of you in my RAK Album here on my blog and those doodles are still there for you, but today starts a little something different...
in honor of Ali's "One Little Word" and in my pursuit to remind you of the things you already know...today I introduce you to
"One Little Word...can make a BIG Difference.
Here are a few of my doodles from last year that I continue to reflect on and inspired me to create this special project:
This year, my word is PURPOSE. I often struggle, just like everyone on what I can do to make a difference. I have been blessed by GOD to be able to create things and with "Purpose" as my goal...to help, to serve, to create and to remind...I have come up with a little project with Ali's blessing to start off 2009.
Starting today, you will be able to purchase a custom framed doodle with "YOUR WORD of the year".
Option One - You will receive an original 4 x 6 handrawn, doodled and framed "One Little Word" with your choice of a black or white frame and complimented with a verse, favorite quote or scripture of your choice.
The price for framed art is $20.00 and $5.00 from each purchase will be donated to Autism Speaks.
Option two - You can order your custom doodle without a frame and your word will be sent to you via email in a PDF file. Your doodle can be used for your own personal blog, site and can be downloaded and saved to your computer to be printed out.
The price for the PDF is $15.00 with $5.00 of every purchase going to Autism Speaks.
These doodles will serve as a reminder of your word for the year, to help benefit the research of Autism...and keep me busy doodling! If you are interested in ordering a personalized "One Word" Doodle, please send me an email with "One Word Doodle" in the subject line and send it to homegrownhospitality@cox.net . An email containing all of the ordering information will be sent to you.
I would LOVE to know what your word of the year is..so please leave me a comment...I will be giving away one framed doodle on my blog and Ali will be giving away one on hers...
I wish you all the happiest of New Years and a blessed 2009.

SHINE is my word for 2009. I want anyone who looks at me to see the light of the Lord shining from my heart and soul. My last 3 years have been full of misfortune and the Lord has brought me through it so I want to be a lamp shining onto His Word.

Steph,
I LOVE this idea!
I need to rely on STRENGTH from the Lord, so my word for the year will be STRENGTH... comes from this, my FAVORITE verse: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their STRENGTH; they shall MOUNT UP with wings as EAGLES; they shall run, and NOT be weary; they SHALL walk, and NOT faint. ISAIAH 40:31
Have a great day!!
Happy Scrappin'

My word is more of a phrase, "La Dolce Vita". It means "The sweet life" in Italian.

T R U S T will be my word in 2009. Strengthening that trust will be of upmost importance to me. 2008 was very uncertain for me and my family. And 2009 looks even more so. But by staying strong in trusting God, we will be better than ever!

Oh goodness, this just touches my heart...you'll be seeing an email from me soon!:)
My word is a series of words in the form of a verse...colossians 3:17, I just put it to image last night. It goes along with purpose:)
What a fabulous talent you share with the world...I'm one of the "fans!"
Peace and JOY in the New Year!

Hi Stephanie! This is such a wonderful concept! I am encouraging all my friends and family who read my blog to choose a word and contact you... I haven't chosen my word yet but my possibilities are narrowed down to explore, give, journey, moment, and savor. :-) I'm going to have to pick one soon! Happy New Year!

What a fabulous idea! Your word art is always stunning and I love that you've teamed up with Ali to help Autism Speaks. I spent some time yesterday searching for my 2009 word and decided on "TODAY"- a reminder to live in the present moment, accomplish my goals one step/day at a time, and cherish all those everyday little moments that slip away too quickly. :) Happy New Year!!

My word for 2009 is "flourish". This fits where I'm at in my life because I'm going back to college at 37 years old to pursue my dream of becoming a Kindergarten teacher. I'm teaching Sunday School (Kindergarten boys) for the first time ever and focus on keeping my friends motivated to do better for themselves in whatever situation they are in. I keep my mother (widowed two years ago) positive for the future and look for the best in everything. Best wishes to all for 2009.

my word for 2009 is definitely "serenity". I am in desperate need to just let myself let go and let GOD.
Noun 1. serenity- a disposition free from stress or emotion
2.verb serenity - the absence of mental stress or anxiety
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

My word for 2009 is CENTERED... It seemed a little eastern philosphy at first but the more I thought about it is really encompasses my belief system. Christ is centered in me, I should be centered in all I do so that I am really in that momement. I love the fact that whatever is centered is surrounded by borders which provide space... In that space there is peace and protection. Nothing can crowded CENTERED because there the margins of space. I am very excited to figure out how I am going to make this a reality in my life.

First of all I love your work! Just looking at it makes me smile! My word for 2009 is courage. I tend to hold back and not push myself and I really want to move forward in life. I have a feeling 2009 is going to bring a lot of change and I really want to have the courage to move forward and embrace the change.

I'm still debating on my word for 2009. I was thinking of going with 3 because I need to focus on each for different reasons - but they all kinda go together.
Prioritize
Organize
Prepare (spiritually and temporally)

I did this for the first time for 2008 (when my word was "focus") and excitedly looked forward to choosing my word for 2009. It's something I've been contemplating for several weeks and have decided to make it - and the passage of scripture I chose to go with it - my word for 2009. My word is GENTLE, using the definition "free from harshness, sternness or violence." I am wanting to cultivate a heart and speech that is more gentle and tender toward my husband and children. :)

I'm thinking about focus or grace...but I'm still thinking. I figure I have about eight more hours until the New Year to decide. :)

Using my Word of the Year instead of New Year's resolutions this year. Would love one of your doodles to remind me of my focus this year. My word for 2009 is DISCIPLINE - "habits and ways of acting that are gotten through practice". I want to focus on being disiplined in many areas of my life - Spiritually - reading the Bible daily (just bought a One Year Chronological Bible) ; Health - making healthy food choices and daily exercise; Leisure time - making time for myself and my family.
