Dear Mr. Economy,
I am writing to you on behalf of some of my good friends. They have no idea that I am doing this, so please do not respond to them. They have their hands full right now.
I have been a little pre-occupied this week creating projects for CHA, working on a Valentine Kit, doing my Bible Study Homework, folding laundry, taking care of family junk and constantly watching the news & listening to the interviews about "TheMiracle on the Hudson" to have missed the release of this ridiculous news caused mostly by you.
I must tell you that when I first heard the news, I had a flash back to last February when you came and visited me personally. Just like last year, for a moment you had me stunned and then a little bit of a panic and a mad rush of concern for many of my friends that directly and indirectly affected by you, came over me.
It makes my heart hurt..It makes alot of peoples hearts hurt.
Are you related to the devil??? Seriously. I think that you are...but at least for me, Mr. Economy, all it does is make me work harder and with intent. (insert photo of me sticking my tongue out at you)
You have cause me to have that "Mother Bird" feeling. I am positive that you have no idea what I mean Mr. Economy, but let me tell you that when you mess with a Creative world FULL of "Mother Birds" it can't be pretty.
I am going to stay a politicaly correct, polite paper loving, magazine reading, adhesive rolling, needle stitching, banana bread baking, flip flop wearing, home sweet home lovin, wife, mother, sister & friend by holding my comments, because it wont matter what I say, but I will say that it has opened a littebit of an old wound and that is where my "mother bird" instincts are kickin in.
and now Mr. Economy,
you are not only causing a ruckus all over the world, you have inflicted pain on some of my close friends and they are now feeling EXACTLY what I have been feeling since last February. I don't like that part AT ALL, that there are so any new wounds...new questions, no answers..sadness and disappointment... but I will say, that along with the loss of jobs, a wonderful magazine and lots of good people who put blood, sweat, tears and tons of love into something they love to do....there will be something good that comes out of this. It will be something similar to a storm surge that no doppler will be able to track, and what it will be is a world full of Creative Souls, coming together.
Mr. Economy, I am unsure of exactly what you are, who you are & where you stand with things. I am not being naive, I am not turning my head the other way to pretend that things are not happening..what I am being is HOPEFUL and FAITHFUL.
Have you heard of those words Mr. Economy? Do they make you shudder, or do you wish for the same?
I will agree with you Mr. Economy that I don't think we have seen the end of you, but for people like me, we know that there is a bigger picture and I am afraid to tell you that I may have some bad news for you. With the recent events of this past week, well and the past year, unfortunately you have pushed the Creative Community to the edge, and that Mr. Economy..is not good
not good at all.
I have to assume that you did not think about the implications of messing with a world full of creative souls. Are you trying to see how sturdy our creative "jeans" are? Because if you are..well, you have no idea. Our creative jeans are more sturdy that you will ever know, and if & when we are in need of back-up reinforcement, apparently you have no idea how many ways we can patch up our "jeans"..and how many people are out there to do it
There is a world full of Creative Souls out here Mr. Economy. You may have us down for a bit, but not out.
Long Live Paper.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Ackerman God Loving, Paper Crafting, Chocolate Chip Cookie Baking, Home Making, Magazine Reading, Photo Taking, Memory Recording, Coffee Drinking, Over Adhesive Using, Banana Bread baking, daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend.

I too in a state of unbelief. Were it my decision-that's the mag I'd keep. There is nothing about the magazine I don't like and it reflects my style (such as it is). It was that publication that made me feel it was okay for me to create the way I feel most comfortable.
On the same type of note-my beloved Tinkering Ink is no more. Kezia has gone to work designing for Creativity Inc. In fact her first collection is at Michaels right now and it is absolutely gorgeous. It just will not be the same.

I hope Mr. Economy is listening. Times are tough and it's time he changes his ways, dang it!
