I am back and I missed you, for reals!!!
I feel refreshed and ready to go..where? I am not sure, but as I have said before, I am headed in the right direction...and prepared for the occasional fork in the road!
so...while I do not watch a lot of tv, I LOVE love love the television show, "Parenthood." Do you watch it?
I wish I knew someone that watched it so we could talk about it...I love the "aura" of it. The character's, the stories, the locations. It reminds me of a show that was on a long time ago called "Providence", and of course I LOVED "Gilmore Girls"....oh, and "Felicity"...just feelgood, small town good ol' shows..."Party of Five", "7th Heaven" and..
wait for it...
"30 Something"...
So, while I do not watch a ton of TV, I also do not get out to the movies alot...BUT all of those tv shows mentioned above stack up next to my love for the movies "Hope Floats" ,"The Notebook" and "Steel Magnolia's"...Do you know what I am talking about?? That good ol' wholesome, small town, just good stuff, stuff...Lifetime movie-ish movies which reminds me of my little home away from hometown in Pennsylvania.
Ahh, the "Feel Good" :feelings we receive and the memories that are created when we love, when we do things that make us happy, when we gather with like minded creative souls that lighten our day...the world needs more of those feel good, do good, be good feelings, more of those kind of friends...content, happy, feel good feelings...
and just like with tv and movies, I love to to read BUT it takes me a long time to read because typically as soon as I slow down enough to start reading..I fall asleep...
except for a few days ago.
Insert "A Sweethaven Summer"
I have a new friend through our love for God and scrapbooking (which I also love to do and have not done in too long, scrapbooking, I mean..duh!) and her name is Courtney Walsh. She is a mom, a wife, a scrapbooker, an AUTHOR..A real author that asked lil ol' me to read her book and create something based on the feelings of the book.
First, I LOVE the book. I read it in a matter of hours. Something that I have never done. It is so good (I know I already said it) but it is. It ties together life, death, love, friends, scrapbooking, family, memories, forgiveness, happiness..sadness.....well and has a love story woven into it, which makes me love it even more..in fact, about 10 minutes after finishing the book, I got out a few supplies and made this journal cover based on my very own love story.
and the book, has totally re-ignited my love for scrapbooking because it reminded me of "why" we scrapbook..it is that good.
I am sure it will be a movie and will be another on my favorite list and I told Courtney that I want to be on the red carpet with her because I know..it will be something more than a book..
You should get the book..plain and simple. It is so good !
oh, and tell me when you are finished reading it so we can talk about it...and Parenthood, too!

I ordered this up the other night and cannot wait to get it!! So excited. Your post makes me want it now though. : ) Love your journal, too.

I downloaded the book and started reading it this morning on my iPad. Now that you have said how good it is I don't dare pick it up again until I get my work done. :) And I absolutely love PARENTHOOD!! It is like candy only better because it isn't fattening. My husband gets up early so goes to bed just before it starts. Sometimes I can't wait till the next evening to watch it with him so I watch it while it is airing and then watch the recording the next night with him. :) I haven't seen last night's episode, though, so don't tell me what happens. I can't believe how often the episodes parallel things happening in my own life. Unfortunately more what the older parents are experiencing (health issues, aging parents, wanting to interfere with their kids decisions) not what the younger parents are going through (relationship with hot, younger man)...ha, ha. :)

Love your list of shows and movies. We turned off tv a few years ago and so only do netflix with no streaming so we do not watch much but i have been ordering all the old TV shows from the 80's and early 90's and they are so much better than anything that is new and my kids love it. I hope you enjoyed your break.

I love Parenthood and love that my husband watches it with me. I also adored Gilmore Girls--best show ever! We went to WB Studios while it was still in production and I got to stand on Lorelai's porch and in front of Luke's diner--I was giddy!
I will have to get that book--looks amazing. Did you get my e-mail? We are moving this week, but would love to get together with you soon! Have a creative day!

Ordered the book yesterday and cannot wait to receive. I am with you on the small town feel of shows, that is exactly why I love Gilmore Girls, etc.

Love that Courtney Walsh! I'll have to check it out - and your shows and movies are spot on. I just watched Tuesday's Parenthood and can't believe the season is ending already *sob*. Wouldn't you just love to go to your mom's for dinner and sit outside like they do? A fairy tale.

JUst finished reading Sweethaven Summer, fabulous read, it's one of those stories when finishing the book is sad because of the friendship I develop with the characters. Courtney Walsh has written a real gem in Sweethaven Summer.
OMG I loved the show Providence, loved the sister's little store the "Barkery" another great movie was Fried Green Tomatoes with Kathy Bates.
