Once upon a time...I was a "scrapbooker".
I use quotation marks around the word SCRAPBOOKER because it was like a title. It was something I did. I created scrapbooks about my kids, used plastic oval templates, scattered tilted Mrs. Grossman stickers all over my pages, created my own embellishments from acid free paper, spent more money and time arranging and then re-arranging the pages...
and occasionally even got to be in a picture
That was then...I was so young and so in charge, knew what I was doing and spent a lot of time doing it. I kept scrapping my way through the 90's and then somewhere around the year 2004, when Ben was five...I stopped.
nice.
He is thirteen now.
LOSER (in my Napoleon Dynamite voice.)
Looking back now, I was "scrapbooking" but not telling/documenting our lives so much. I was highlighting births, baptisms, birthdays, Halloween costumes and Holiday pictures around the tree...and that, is about it.
Alright, I am not giving myself enough credit because I started to document IMPORTANT facts like Jack LOVING "chain-soughts" and insisting that he take his own to the Christmas tree farm Home Depot to help the man with the real "chain sought"
Looking through my books reminded me that I really need to start again..BUT not pick up where I left off...I will catch up later...I hope!
I am just going to start again.
Documenting our lives in-between the covers of a 12x12 book because someday, when Jack has a family of his own (gulp!), they are going to want to know that wayyyy back in 1998, when their dad was almost three, he was an official "Crocodile Floater"
and in 2012 he was swimming on the high school team.
To be continued...

I am in the same place with my scrapbooking, ya know, cause you and me are so the same ;) I have wanted to start again, but when I think of picking up where I left off, it overwhelms me and I push the thought right on out of my mind. But I love the idea of just starting now. I think I'll join you! Thanks for the gentle kick in the pants to get me moving <3

I have almost always been that way in scrapbooking because I started when my first grandchild was born....so add to the mix two daughters, five more grandchildren and 60+ years of photos from my life and wow...lots of photos!! And a few trips like Washington DC, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Chicago weekend with friends...and lots more photos....so I do what I can when I can and my scrapbooks are all ongoing. No real system, just grab and handful of pictures and start going!! LOL!! I love the process and the kids love the pages.
