When you love to do something, it is not hard to do and in the past few weeks I have defined my purpose a little more. I discovered that
The letters you have been seeing on my lastest canvas art pieces are just hand cut from dictionary paper, old book paper and paper that I have painted on. All you need are scissors, paper, a little patience for a mess, well and love. You have to love it to do it or it won't work. Well, it will work, but you won't love the outcome. Does that make sense?
Like I mentioned, sometimes I add color and writing to the paper before I cut it up because I love to paint, journal and create from it.
The photo below was a paper that I used every Tim Holtz Distress Marker on, sprayed it with water, blotted it, dried it completly and then wrote out Proverbs 31 on it (well, almost all of it)
Then I just sat and cut. Some are upper case, some are lower case, they are all different and they are just right the way they are.
Then I played around and it became this
This is where I can say that "I love making art from the art I made" and is something that I am totally going to add into every class I teach so that you will be able to say it.
Sometimes I cut before I add color:
and then experiment with color, texture and techniques. When you love to do something, you loose the fear of making a mistake, because if you do, it is okay.
I am excited to see what this becomes and should it become more of a mess than art, it is okay. It is just paper and I can start over.
It is just like life, ya know...
It is called Faith.

oh, how I wish my purpose was defined!!! UGH
