all...weekend...long.
That is how long it took to de-clutter and now, at 8:22 am on Monday morning
I
am
done.
For new readers, this is my studio. The place I create, stack and store all of my supplies.
Every CHA season, I work, work, work, work and work and not clean up until I am done and after this last show, it was the worst I think it has ever been. Not because of the show, but really just 5 years of accumulation, hoarding, compiling, collecting, stacking...whatever you wanna call it.
It was a creative chaotic nightmare in there. So bad that I didn't even want to go in because I was then reminded that it was a disaster. It even took me a few hours after my 1:30 start time on Friday.
I just did not want to do it, because I did not know where to even start.
Sound familiar?
I am certain that I am not alone in the situation.
I pretty much just dove in and started...and pretty much never stopped.
Now, my studio is not going to be one of those amazingly beautiful, color co-ordinated, pefect pinterest-y places. I don't really even wish for that.
I love my lil' shead-teau.
It is my real life, worked in, splattered, spilled, dripped all over, creative space and by golly, it is as clean as it has ever been..well except for when it first was built in 2007.
Ready for a quick tour?
When you walk in through the double doors, this GIANT iron bakers rack (that the husband found next to the trash in a storage unit) is on the right wall:It is so heavy that it has started to mess up the floor (that is why there is a piece of plywood under it) I am sure it has everything to do with the fact that it is huge and heavy plus the fact that there are a ton of Sizzix dies and lots of class jars filled with this, that and the other.
On the far left wall there is now a place for me to scrapbook and looking at the photo, I need to go out and clean the windows! See, I told ya it wasn't all pinterest-y.
I got the card catalog thing from the school and it is also super heavy. Husband wants me to get rid of it. I think not. It holds glitters, tags, adhesives, dymo supplies, etc. and makes a nice shelf for my Project Life stuff.
On the far right side of this work surface is a collection of all of the projects I came across while de-cluttering that I have made in the past few months.
This makes me a tad cranky because I do not know what the heck to do with it all.
Okay, so in the middle, in-between my scrapbook area and the giant bakers rack, on the back wall, is my primary work place. If I was on Mtv Cribs, I 'd say this is where all the magic happens.
and on the wall, right above it, is where a majority of my supplies are.
Buckets and shelves of some of my most favorite things.
Now that it is all done, I keep going back there and just looking, fiddling and smiling.
This concludes the De-Clutter recap...now it is time to create.

I just love it!! Especially the card catalog :)

Oh Stephanie...... I'm in LOVE... Your creative studio is darling. I've been looking at all sorts of studios from old train carriages , converted caravans... But the humble back yard storage shed is more to go I believe, especially when it it so beautifully decorated in creativity and imagination... Way to go and glad you got your creative space all ready for a new year
Take care...

I find it so much easier to create when the studio is organized and clutter free, it's just so hard to keep it that way @@

wow I love it. I like the shelves above your workspace I need more shelf space but I really need to declutter my space again too. I moved in over the summer and now I have so much stuff in there because everyone thinks that they have something that I might like and use so they want to give me anything that they think is left over art supplies. I am planning on a declutter soon, but it will have to warm up before I can do much. My space is our garage and it is almost to cold to do much out there right now.

Stephanie, the de clutter looks amazing, a perfect place to start to get all messy and inky again. Can't wait to see what the de clutter brings to your inspiration xoxo

Please put those "don't know what to do with creations" in your ETSY shop, my friend! Love that shed-teau!

Love your space. I have a small spare bedroom and am hoping to floor in our vaulted living room so I can have a huge studio and my spare bedroom back. I can't do my sewing in there and have to overtake the dining room all the time. BTW...you should really put those projects towards prizes for visiting your blog.

Loving your shed-teau! It looks super neat and tidy now. You could always do some Candy now and then or like others have said, put them in your Etsy shop - they are really beautiful pieces....

AMAZING studio! So organized and so pretty! I wish I had a designated space that was not the corner of my living room. I LOVE that bakers rack!

Doesn't it feel great to get "re -organized"! Sometimes when I just don't know what to do or make I start cleaning up the work space and reorganizing and I find something that inspires me. Thanks for sharing your creative space!

What a FABULOUS little haven!! Could you put your canvases and pictures and projects up on the wall for inspiration? Just a thought. If that doesn't work for you...how about boxing it up, mark the box and try to sell it at the next craft fair??
The great thing about cleaning up is it usually makes you feel like getting inky and making a mess! Have fun!

I love you little shed-teau and wish it was in my back yard! Do I really want one of those big, all white perfect rooms??? well, maybe....but it would never stay that way! Everything looks so nice! I'll be back again to visit.
