If you read back a few days, you will know that I left my laptop at home while on vacation because I was bringing my phone...except for the fact that I accidentally left my phone at home, too! Honestly, for about the first two hours after I realized that I had forgotten it, I seriously thought I was shutting down. I could not think and I am pretty sure I was pouting.
Pathetic, I know..and even worse, John had his phone, so it was not like we were stranded on an island and would have to rely on smoke signal in case of emergency...plus, the kids were with us and my mom and dad were already on ther way to meet us in Maui, so who would be calling anyway...(not that I answer my phone alot (hold your comments)
anyways...
RIDICULOUS as it may sound, it was hard just knowing that it was not there and the fact that EVERYONE, and I mean everyone from the age 7 on up had phones, in the airport, on the airplane, at the pool, at the tables, stuck to their head, driving next to us, on the boardwalk..everywhere I tell you...and they were ALWAYS on them, Always, I say!
anyways..after the first 24-36 hours passed I realized that I did not miss it. Yes, I did use my moms a few times, but was released from the mobile net that somehow at some point had captured me without even knowing it.
I was able to move on....and I did..I was Freeeeee.....FREE, I say!
My imagination played, my senses were heightened..everything was changed...sounds weird?? I Know!
It loosened my brain waves...so I could focus on the ocean waves....
It cleared up my cloudy head so that I could just stare at the amazing cloud formations
Sat and admired crabs for gosh sakes! I watched Jack surf and Ben purposely wipe out..over and over and over
I read an ENTIRE book...all at once...I mean, in five days, but you know what I mean..I just read..and read..
and
talked...
I talked to the people next to us, behind us, in front of us...
I snorkeled and saw GIANT sea turtles just inches away,
I admired the birds,
snuck up on geckos,
I learned to play Suduko,
and I even started a new book...gasp!
It is called "The Artist's Way" and I am reading it slow, so that I can absorb it, because I LOVE it. I understand it and I am learning from it, just like I learned from Kelly Rae's Online course...
did you take it????
you REALLY should (p.s. just saw that it is on sale TODAY! http://kellyraeroberts.blogspot.com/
really.
oh, and I doodled alot..like this quote from "The Artist's Way" that pretty much sums this all up...
I highly suggest that YOU take a hiatus from your electronics. Of course, you can not just go take off on a vacation, but take a break from the everyday "everyday" stuff to let your mind clear, your eyes wander and your imagination play...
It is necessary for our Amazing Journey!
