Yesterday, as I was working my "Parking Duty" at school, holding up my "PLEASE Pull Forward" sign, waving cars to, "ut um"...PULL FORWARD...I was smiling.
I do every day, smile, I mean...even though I do not always want to smile. I have made it part of my job, it is my job...well, and to get those cars in, through and out of the parking lot safely. (insert this face....)
Anyways, after my duty was over yesterday, as I was walking up the ramp towards the office, a dad that I see every day with his kids said to me...."I do not know how you can keep smiling day after day doing this job" and he was shaking his head as he walked away...
and my response was..."my smile may be the only smile they see all day and it slows them down a bit" and I gave him the thumbs up.
Now, let me just tell you, there are a million reasons that I should NOT be smiling after doing this job day after day.....but, I BELIEVE that my dorky smile may change the behavior of at least ONE of those people...at least until they get to work and OFF the road!
This morning...in my "in box", a reminder from the Brave Girls "Daily Truth" about the same thing...
Did you know that you smiled at someone this week who had not been smiled at ALL DAY? You made a huge difference to them -- what a wonderful thing you did!
The kind and selfless little things you do might seem to go unnoticed, but they make such a big difference. The biggest difference is how they make YOU feel -- so keep smiling at unhappy people, keep letting people go ahead of you in traffic, keep complimenting others on their efforts, keep arranging the food perfectly on the plate.
Keep being you. Don't let the stress of every-day pressures keep you from making such a big difference in the lives of others.
Thanks for bringing a bit more happiness everywhere you go. You are such a gift to the world.
and just for your viewing pleasure....a compilation my smiles (and a thousand different hair styles and hats!)
Something for you to do today....
Go through your photos and crop out JUST YOU and create a collage of just YOU. It is an exercise of sorts. It gets your brain to rethink about LOTS of different memories at different times...You will be surprised how as you pull up a photo, you are able to re-connect with that time period and recall the moments and memories (I sure was!)...and I betcha...
you will smile!
