Whether you were inspired by a blog post, the prompting of a friend, a Facebook post or some other reason, you are here right now for a reason and I am so glad that you are. I am glad that I am too and although I do not know exactly where we are headed, I am confident that we are going in the right direction.
So what is this all about anyways?
Last January, I bought my very first Moleskine Journal and jumped in with both feet to follow along with the Documented Life Project group. My Moleskine became my companion, my journal, my notebook, my calendar and the place I documented on a daily basis. Some days it was just a word and some days were full of major "ahhh" moments.
I adhered lots of quotes that I heard, verses I wanted to remember and little photos of my life. My journal is busting at the seams with life. The good, bag, ugly, fun. silly, crazy and sad. It is all in there and I love it.
When this past August rolled around I started wondering what 2015 was going to look like for the Documented Life Project group and how or even if the Moleskine would be used, I knew for sure that I wanted to use it again because it was such a habit for me so I was in no matter what BUT I wanted it to be more of a place in 2015 to document my SPIRITUAL faith, my PHYSICAL walk, my RELATIONAL journey and I wanted to use it as a way to encourage myself through the days, weeks and months of a new year.
That is when I knew that I needed to do this with more than just myself. I started seeing what my little reminders and prompts were doing for others and I wanted more to join in with me and create a special place for things like this. So what is next?
Well, I am going to walk you through how I have prepared my journal for 2015. If you are familiar with the DLP group, than you know that we started the journal by adding washi tape to the outside edge of every page. It not only adds a little strength to the edge of the page, it looks awesome when all of the pages are covered. IF you want to do this, go for it.
It really is simple but takes some time.
Go slow. Just open you book, pull out a strip of Washi tape to the length of your page, lay 1/2 of the tape on the edge and then flip over your page and fold over the other 1/2 of the tape.
Once you have the edges covered, trim the over hang with scissors and then IF you want, use a corner rounder to,well, round the corners!
Next I cut 12 pieces of card stock to measure 4 1/2" x 8 1/4" to create a "Tip-In" for each month.
What a "Tip In" ?? It is a piece of card stock/paper that you attach to an existing page in your journal to allow it to open up to give you more space.
You will be using more Washi Tape to attach the tip ins. Like I mentioned, I am going to start with one for each month. I will add more as needed.
Here is how to attach them:
Take one of your pre-cut tip ins and add a strip of washi tape to the edge, allow 1/2 of the tape to hang over.
Line it up and lay it down onto the outside edge of your opened page in your Moleskine Journal. Gently tap the tape down into place.
Fold your Tip-In flap in towards the inside of the Moleskine and using another strip of tape to reinforce the edge/seam on the other side of the tip in.
Trim your edges and repeat for the remaining 11 months. Here is a side view of all of my tip ins:
What other supplies will I be using?? Well, this is where I am going to share with you what I have on hand and encourage you to use what you have on hand. These are links via Amazon but always be sure to shop local and use coupons!
If you have any questions, please just eave a comment on this post and I will answer them here.
